Upper Dunajec river

Dunajec river beginning takes place in Nowy Targ from the connection of two rivers – Bialy (white) Dunajec and Czarny (black) Dunajec. Upper part of Dunajec is between this place and the estuary in a Czorsztyn dam lake. In upper Dunajec you can catch more various fish species than in Bialy and Czarny Dunajec where trouts and graylings dominate. In the upper Dunajec besides trout and grayling you can also catch barbel, chub, nase (sneep) and the dream of fishermans called ,,queen of Dunajec”- huchen. The nature of the river gives huge opportunities to try every fly fishing method. Doesn’t matter if you are an advanced angler or beginner, at upper Dunajec everyone will find a perfect place for himself.

Dunajec special zone

Special sector (upper) at Dunajec river between Krościenko and Tylmanowa villages is a large river with large fishes. Sector’s leaseholder cares for regular restocking and monitoring of the river so every fisherman who will come here has a chance to catch life’s record fish. This part of the river is especially known for big trouts, graylings and danube salmons but also you can catch there barbels , chubs or nases. This fishery is a frequent destination of our fishing trips, mainly with experience fishermans who can expect unforgettable emotions. Probably the best polish river for nymph fishing!

Najlepszy czas w roku na wędkarstwo muchowe!

Jesień jest dla wędkarzy muchowych i osób które rozważają naukę łowienia na sztuczną muchę bez wątpienia wspaniałym okresem. W październiku i listopadzie temperatura wody idzie w dół co dla ryb jest sygnałem, że idzie zima i trzeba się najeść. Naszymi ulubionymi w tym czasie są lipienie które bardzo ochoczo zabierają małe owady z powierzchni wody. Sucha mucha idzie w ruch! Przy okazji można zaobserwować odbywające właśnie tarło pstrągi potokowe, po rzece trzeba się poruszać tak aby im w tym nie przeszkadzać. Nasi przewodnicy chętnie dzielą się wiedzą o miłosnych zwyczajach pstrągów 🙂

Poza wszystkimi pięknymi okolicznościami przyrody łowienie jesienią jest bardzo komfortowe. Nie ma upałów które tak potrafią dać w kość w lecie. Jesienne temperatury od kilku do kilkunastu stopni celsjusza powodują, że w woderach nie jest nam gorąco ale żeby nie było za zimno w stopy dwie pary grubych skarpet są jak najbardziej wskazane.

The best time of year for fly fishing!

Autumn is undoubtedly a great time for fly fishermen and people who are considering learning this method. In October and November, the water temperature drops, which is a signal for fish that winter is coming and they need to eat. Our favorites at this time are graylings, which eagerly take small insects from the water surface. The dry fly time! By the way, you can observe brown trouts spawning but you have to move around the river so as not to disturb them. Our guides are happy to share their knowledge about the love habits of trouts 🙂

Apart from all the beautiful nature, fishing in autumn is very comfortable. There is no heat that can be so exhausting in summer. Autumn temperatures ranging from a few to a dozen or so degrees Celsius mean that we don’t feel hot in waders, but to prevent our feet from getting too cold, two pairs of thick socks are highly recommended! Czarny Dunajec river

Czarny Dunajec river has its sources in Witow, small village at the foot of western Tatras. Begins from the connection of streams flowing from two valleys: Chocholowska and Koscieliska. No doubt, this river is one of the most beautiful and fishful in Podhale area. The character of the river changes several times along its about 40-kilometer course. 

Upper part is typical fast and cold trout water full of big rocks and swift currents. Beautiful landscapes and low fishing pressure makes it perfect to enjoy loneliness. 

Middle part starts from Podczerwone village where artificial watersteps were unfortunately built in Soviet Union times. This part is good for the beginners, a perfect place for learning the basics of fly fishing.

From Wróblówka village the river changes its character again and until the estuary becomes typical grayling water. Flows thru unchanged by human interference terrains and offers a lot of attractive fishing spots. 

During the trip on Czarny Dunajec we provide amazing moments. It’s a perfect proposition for fishermans at any level of advancement who look for something new, far from popular and commercial fisheries.
